“The gift of knowledge is the best gift that anyone can ever receive, and TCTA did not disappoint us today, this is exactly what this community needed”, said Ms Puseletso Mofokeng, one of the more than a hundred residents at Kgubetswana, Eastern Free State who attended the TCTA Women’s Day initiative on 25 and 26 August. In July, the Communication and Stakeholders Department sent out a call to the organisation for volunteers to assist women at Kgubetswana in gaining skills to enter the job market. This was done in the form of helping the community in creating CVs, creating online job profiles, applying for jobs, general consultation and advisory services.

The workshop, which took place the community hall was facilitated by TCTA staff, and both physical and virtual platforms were used. The café was a way for TCTA to empower women in terms of gaining skills and knowledge to access the world of work. The volunteers, TCTA staff, shared knowledge, skills and career advice with the community, with emphasis being specifically on unemployed women in the area.
