A knowledge hub in large-scale desalination and water reuse in Knowledge Management Division has positioned TCTA for an important part in roll out of the National Desalination Strategy. The organisation expects this initiative to grow in the medium term. The knowledge hub takes guidance from the strategic plans of the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), which envisions a significant role for large-scale desalination and water reuse projects.

Further, DWS’s stated position is that reputable water management institutions should drive the implementation of these projects. TCTA is well-positioned for this role, given the considerable progress it has made in building a knowledge base in all aspects of such projects. The knowledge hub will continue to develop local insights and capacity in anticipation of an era during which the bulk water infrastructure build programme will have significant elements of sea water desalination and water reuse.
